GARDEN HISTORY – THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE ENGLISH LANDSCAPE GARDEN

Thursdays 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th October 10-3pm.  This 4 day course will trace the development of the English Landscape Garden from the late 17th to the late 18th century. As well as studying the gardens and the people who created them, we shall also consider the wider cultural, literary, political and artistic context in which the landscape garden flourished. FAMILY TIME – Get creative with leaves

Join Lauren from the Kentish Stour Countryside Partnership on a walk around the gardens admiring the seasonal changes, whilst searching for signs of mammals to mark National Mammal Week (25th-31st October 2021). Get creative fingers working on some natural art using ‘wild’ materials to make leaf imprint trinket dishes as well as doing some hapazome printing.  Pre-booked workshop, one child with one adult, children aged 5+ and accompanied by one adult.  Booking is essential £15.00 per child, one adult included.

HALF TERM FAMILY TIME

Family workshops will run 10 am until 12 noon.  Places will be limited and booking will be essential, familiar faces will run a range of fun, hands-on workshops.  The morning sessions will replace our historic Autumn Week, though you will still be able to enjoy a trail around the glorious autumn garden in the afternoons.  Normal garden entry will apply for the garden and trail in the afternoon, booking is essential via our website.

Family Time – Needle Felting

Adorable hedgehog – suited to beginners and those new to needle felting.  This will be a fun and relaxed workshop led by Jude Askey-Brown.  You will create a wonderful hedgehog learn how to craft a 3D core structure, as well as being guided through essential basic skills to be able to carry on confidently at home.  This workshop will be pre-booked, one child with one adult, sharp barbed needles will be used children will need to be aged 7+ and accompanied by one adult.  Booking is essential £15.00 per child, one adult included.
