Mini Matchbox Nature Homes & Their Teeny Tiny Inhabitants

During your visit to Godinton, drop in to this workshop with artist Gemma Gottelier. Explore our wonderful plants and wildlife, looking and listening out for small creatures on land and in the water. Model your chosen animal out of clay and create a cosy matchbox dwelling for it, adding natural materials collected from the grounds to make your little home more inviting!

Start with an exlploration of the gardens, using your senses to smell plants, spot and listen for animals. Make drawings of your findings and seek out nature's gems to inspire your creations. Then use air-drying clay to model your chosen creature and decorate a mini matchbox to call its home. Take your tiny dwelling and its teeny inhabitant back to your own home to look after - reminding us to care for the wonderful wildlife that we share our planet with.

This is a drop-in workshop that will be running from 1pm - 4pm on Thursday 24th July. It is suitable for children of all ages although younger children may require some assistance from adults with some parts of the making process. All children need to be accompanied by a paying adult.

The workshop is included in the price of a standard garden ticket. You can buy garden tickets on the day from our Ticket Office or, alternatively, you can book garden tickets for 24th July for all visiting adults and children here.

Garden opening times are 12:30pm - 5:30pm.
