Winged Wonders: Nature Suncatchers
Working with artist Gemma Gottelier, you will explore Godinton's wonderful plants and wildlife and create a colourful suncatcher using nature's treasures to hang in your window and catch the lovely early summer sunlight.
Come on an exploration to see what’s growing & living at Godinton. We’ll take a stroll through the gardens, using our senses to smell plants, spot & listen for animals, make drawings of our discoveries, and seek out nature’s gems to inspire our creations! You’ll make a delicate suncatcher inspired by Godinton wildlife to enjoy at home, adding petals or leaves from plants & flowers. And while your suncatcher catches the sun, if you like listening to stories, we’ll end the session with a wildlife tale.
Gemma is an artist who is passionate about bringing people together in beautiful & inspiring places and seeing their creativity unfold. With craft & fine art skills - originally training as a fine artist - Gemma loves using a diversity of techniques in her making & workshops. Her ideas are inspired by the environments in which her workshops take place, their collections and the history & stories of them. Gemma has been part of an artist collective working in outdoor spaces for the past 10 years. A nature-lover, seeking out green spaces to work in where possible, Gemma loves connecting with local groups through her workshops - providing positive, creative wellbeing experiences, where makers will take something special they’ve made home with them.
The workshop is suitable for adults and children over 5 years old. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Adults may be required to assist younger children with some parts of the making process.
Sessions run for approximately 1hr 45mins and start at 11am and 2pm.
