Classical Concerts in the Great Hall – Cello performance by Maciej Kulakowski

We are delighted to be hosting Polish cellist Maciej Kulakowski for a very special morning of classical music in the majestic setting of the Great Hall.  Maciej won 1st prize and a special award at the Lutoslawski International Cello Competition in 2015 before participating as a Laureate in the finals of the 2017 Queen Elizabeth Competition in Brussels.  He takes part in the Cello Biennale in Amsterdam and gives recitals at the Bath, Newbury Spring, Brighton and Machynlleth Festivals in the UK.

In 2022, Delphian Records released his debut album of French music ‘Beau soir’ to critical acclaim.  He went on to record Penderecki’s complete solo cello music, due for release in 2023.

The morning’s program of music will include JS Bach’s Cello Suite No.3 in C and Gaspar Cassado’s Suite for Solo Cello, as well as shorter pieces by Tsintsadze, Marais and Bacewicz.  The performance will begin at 11 am and last approximately 45 minutes with tea or coffee and a slice of homemade cake to follow at 11:45 am.
