After years of squishing mistletoe berries into our apple branches we finally have one seedling growing. Although we won’t be seeing any berries unless some more germinate – we need male and female plants – but it’s a positive start to the new year. If anyone still has any berries in their trees I’d like to gather some more to add to the young trees in the orchard and now is the time to do it. If the birds haven’t taken them all please let me know.
The Lily Pond chose the Christmas week to develop a leak and got so low that I had to enlist some help to move these beautiful trout to one of the other ponds. Of course it has now filled up to the brim again with all this rain and I’m crossing my fingers that it won’t empty out again too quickly.
