As the new year commences it’s time for the house to get some much needed extra attention in areas we can’t always get to during the open season, starting this year with the Great Hall windows. While conservation cleaning is an ongoing task within the house, like all houses Godinton sometimes needs some extra maintenance works. Eveliina Peltola, a specialist in furniture restoration who is based on site in our Swinford Studios, has come to help us care for the wooden window frames that have seen better days. As well as the Great Hall windows, some of the beautiful wooden furniture in the Chamber need lifting veneers restored, and loose mouldings repaired. By the time the house re-opens you won’t be able to spot any of the modern repair work.
