May in the Garden

May is such an important month in the gardener’s calendar. We have now thrown off the shackles of winter and we pace towards the dizzying heights of summer. The garden is now awash with drifts and swathes of colour, with intense pops of colour from Alliums and broad splashes of frothy ivory from our Lunaria annua var.albiflora. The last of the tulips provide a hot, punchy addition and we welcome the soft, bobbing heads of Aquilegia. The garden team at Godinton are now working flat out too, with a hefty mixture of tasks to be engaged in. The lawns are a lush canvas to be mown regularly, with watering a constant and meticulous duty. The garden is alive and singing, and the team are here to welcome you into this magical space.
