Late summer sunshine
Rudbeckia ‘Prairie Sun’ making a splash in the cut flower beds. The recent rain has refreshed the garden and all the late doers are flourishing.
The herbaceous borders are full of Aster x frikartii ‘Monch’, Stipa gigantea, Perovskia atriplicifolia,Sedums and Penstemmons. The annual trim of the mammoth yew hedge surrounding the formal garden is under way and the lawns are getting a bit of much needed attention.
Dahlias in the walled garden are shorter than usual after the cold spring and the dry summer but they’re still producing barrow loads of flowers for us. Can’t beat them for late colour.
