With the colder weather starting to set in the house has now closed its doors for the season. While the house has a much deserved a rest, there’s none of that for staff! Behind the closed doors we are a hive of activity, cleaning and conserving the house ready for our visitors next year. The silverware is shined and the rugs rolled.
One of the ongoing concerns is the level of light damage to some of the already delicate furniture, carpets, and so on. By the time you visit us next year, we will have new blinds fitted which protect the collection but still allow views of the gorgeous gardens without the need to open the blinds.
Alongside preservation works, we are also already busy planning interesting events and workshops for next year, so keep your eyes on our ‘What’s On’ page for the big reveal of next year’s programme. But with Autumn Week just around the corner (starting Monday 22nd October) and many events and workshops still taking place this year, there is still lots to look forward to and we hope to see you soon!
