This month we have been promoting expanding your knowledge with plenty of workshops and courses on the go! We have also been trying to expand our own, as we are now beginning to explore the attics a bit more. This month, some samples have been taken from the wooden beams up in the attics ready to undergo the process of Dendra Dating (Dendrochronology). Studying the unique ‘barcode’ of the tree’s rings will tell us not only how old the wood is, but also what year and even what season it was cut down ready to become part of Godinton. We already know some of the beams in the Great Hall are as old as 1396, but we can’t wait to see how another part of the house compares! Stay tuned, and we will post the results as soon as we get them!
