Winter Coppicing in the Snow

Our hardy estate team work in icy conditions to complete the winter coppicing. On the edge of the estate they are carrying out a 15-20 year scheme on the sweet chestnut trees. This traditional woodland management allows quick regrowth from the stumps, helps create habitats for wildlife and allows light for fabulous bluebells to grow. The cut wood is part of our renewable energy plans by chipping it and being used in the biomass boiler which heats the main house and other buildings on site.
