House martins leave the nest

The private picturesque courtyard at Godinton has been home to the house martins since April. These chatty birds have built impressive mud nests below the eaves of the buildings where they are often seen swooping in and out feeding their young. Recently the chicks have been testing their wings in the evenings feasting on aerial insects, in preparation of their migration south between September and October.
