Der schlimmste Winter ist vorbei,,en,und so ist die Wiedereröffnung des Hauses in aller Munde,,en,Das Haus wird nach Weihnachten sehr gründlich gereinigt,,en,und das Hausteam haben vor kurzem,,en, and so the house re-opening is on everyone’s minds. The house gets a very thorough clean after Christmas, and the house team have recently spent many hours hoovering, dusting, buffing and window cleaning. One of Godinton’s most wonderful features is the wooden panelling and carvings found in many rooms around the house, but few consider the fact that all of that woodwork has to be dusted and buffed thoroughly. Our spring clean does provide an opportunity to get up close and personal with many of the carvings in a way that most people don’t get the chance to.
As with any house, dust accumulates and regular maintenance is needed too. Deep cleaning allows us to inspect the condition of windows, paint, carpets (and their underlay) and panelling, and to make sure that everything is in good order. The maintenance of the physical fabric of the building is vital if Godinton is to continue standing well in to the future, and the large amounts of rain and wind have meant the team have been on high alert for any signs of damp.
As we creep towards March, not only are we cleaning, but we’re also beginning to restore rooms to their open season set-up. There’s still a lot to do as I write, but we’re confident of getting it all done in the next few weeks. For those of you who have visited before, there will be a few new additions and tweaks to the house, so do come back & see us again!
