This long-established summer’s sculpture show is now a popular fixture in many diaries. For three weeks a selection of new work is shown adding an exciting element to the 13 acres of beautiful and varied gardens. Visitors can enjoy the show from Saturday 21st July for three weeks until 12th August, the gardens open daily from 1pm to 6pm.
Some of our familiar local artists will be joined by five artists new to Godinton with work in a broad range of materials and styles. Jason Mulligan’s monolithic stone sculptures, Christine Baxter’s iron Hare’s and Marion Brandis’ mosaic spheres will be joining Richard Cresswells latest kinetic sculptures which were so popular last year.
Godinton’s Head Gardener, Viv Jagd, who organises the annual show, said ‘We are always thrilled to install the new work and see how it brings the garden to life. It’s a real joy to make the garden into a gallery for three weeks every year. This year we have work for every bit of the garden – carved stone and sparkling glass for the Wild Garden, shining aluminium abstracts on the formal lawns and ponds, charming smaller figurative work for the intimate Italian Garden. Every piece has its own space’.
