The gardens are open for the 2019 season and the fabulously warm February has got everything off to a flying start – especially the bees. At this time of year it’s all about these bright little jewels – crocuses, hepaticas and japanese quince.
The gardens at Godinton House will be opening every day from the 1st March, gates open from 1pm until 6pm. The deep blue skies and bright light of this Indian summer make everything in the garden a bit more spectacular. Fruit crops have been fantastic – the quince trees loved this long, hot summer and our potato harvest was smaller in numbers but these Cara potatoes were the size of rugby balls!
We’re still enjoying lots of colour in the garden with Asters, Rudbeckias, Sedums and Dahlias but as the temperatures start to drop the warm reds and oranges give us all a bit of a glow.
